Pedestrian Struck and Killed, BEACON BAY, December 6, 2022 - At approximately 6:25 am on December 6, 2022, a white 2009 Chevy Silverado, driven by Sean Patrick Curtin, 50, of Livingston, was east-bound on FM-3126. As Curtin was passing the intersection of Bayview Lane, a pedestrian, Carl Steven Burris, Jr., 56, of Livingston, stepped in front of him and was struck by the pickup (Burris was crossing from the south-bound side of 3126). Burris was impacted on the passenger's front side of the pickup and knocked approximately 80 feet into a drainage area on the right side of the pavement. Burris was killed on impact. Curtin pulled into the Shell station that was adjoined to the drainage area. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Trooper Lowrie was assisted by other local Troopers in the investigation. One lane of traffic was blocked on 3126 during investigation and cleanup. Justice of the Peace, Darrell Longino filed an inquest at the scene. Burris was transported from the scene by a first call car from Cochran Funeral Home. The pickup was recovered by LakeView Towing and will be stored in Livingston.
