Artemis I mission status briefing to discuss Orion’s return powered flyby of the Moon and decisions to deploy recovery assets to sea.
The Artemis 1 mission placed the Orion spacecraft into a distant retrograde orbit around the moon for 2 weeks. Orion will then return to Earth for splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. Ten small CubeSat rideshare payloads also tagged along. This test flight paves the way for the first crewed mission to return humans to the Moon - Artemis 2 - planned for May 2024.
