Media try to bury Twitter files
By Terry A. Hurlbut
Over the weekend, journalist Matt Taibbi released a tweetstorm about the Old Regime at Twitter suppressing a political story. As bad as any such suppression is, it happened during an election campaign with the intent to skew the election. We now see further evidence that the ideological corruption of our news media goes much further than social media alone. The legacy media are studiously ignoring this story, maybe hoping it will go away. But in trying to bury the Twitter Files, they only reveal their own embarrassment.
Latest on the Twitter Files
As CNAV reported Saturday, Matt Taibbi shared a thread, now with 41 tweets in it, concerning news manipulation at Twitter. The first twelve tweets served as an introduction. In the rest of them, Taibbi treated the suppression of the Hunter Biden Laptop Story on completely specious grounds. (And Twitter staff knew they were specious while they were acting.)
Taibbi ended his thread as he began it, with the promise of more to come. He and Elon Musk gave everyone reason to suspect the next installment later on Saturday. Thus far it has not come, and Elon has announced a delay of “a day or so,” according to Newsmax.

Trump has his own social media – and his reaction
Donald J. Trump reacted in outrage to the release – and said something that admittedly lent itself to avoidable distortion. As ever, he now confines himself to Truth Social, which he owns. On that medium, he sent three “Truths” beginning late Friday evening. See here, here, and here.
I am glad that everyone is now seeing the light on what I have been saying loud and clear for the last two years, that the 2020 Presidential Election was rigged and stolen by a combination of Democrats, Big Tech, “law enforcement,” and other bad actors. Sadly, we have become a corrupt Country, perhaps one of the most corrupt anywhere in the world. We MUST right this horrible wrong, and take our Country back!
Wow! That’s a really big story about Twitter and various forms of government Fraud including, specifically, Election Fraud. The same level of Fraud took place with the other Big Tech companies, if not even worse (if that’s possible?). We are living in a VERY CORRUPT COUNTRY &, AS THEY ARE SAYING ALL OVER THE INTERNET, “NOTHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT & FBI ARE TOTALLY CORRUPT.” But they’ll keep investigating “boxes” that were legally & openly taken from the W.H.
That last, of course, refers to the Mar-A-Lago Raid.
Did Trump really talk about terminating the Constitution?
Then Trump said the confusing thing:
So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great “Founders” did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!
No other person, even Elon Musk himself, seems to have read the above with anything approaching due care. Musk made his outrage clear here:

But Trump did not call to suspend the entire Constitution, but only those parts of it relating to Presidential elections. Trump seems to be acknowledging a bitter truth: the Constitution does not provide for correcting or even investigating, at the Federal level, improper appointment of Presidential Electors. Or else, Vice-President Pence had his chance to do that, but didn’t, and it might now be too late. But Trump probably got ahead of himself, for all Matt Taibbi has alleged so far is management of the news. That constitutes grounds to reform or replace the institution that did the managing, or for candidates to find new channels for their own messaging.
The news media won’t mention the Twitter Files
Of far more serious import than any confusing (and confused) thing Trump said over the weekend, is who is not saying anything about the Twitter Files today. Clay Travis observed Saturday morning that:
There is not one single article about @elonmusk or the @twitter email release last night on @nytimes app this morning.
In fact Travis held forth for four tweets, venting his outrage at Jeff Bezos, who owns The Washington Post today:

In reply, Elon Musk tartly observed:
That is because The New York Times has become, for all intents and purposes, an unregistered lobbying firm for far left politicians.
In reply to that, User ALX (who got his account back last month) shared a video of him checking the New York Times app, and finding no mention of the Twitter Files.

Nor does the lack of coverage limit itself to the Times and the Post.

Matt Taibbi, for his part, took note of typical media hypocrisy:

Lack of trust in media
This morning, the columnist “strieff” at RedState noted the lack of coverage, and Clay Travis’ complaints about it. Then he discussed the larger problem: the media have lost the trust of the American people, and it’s their fault. He suggests the only people who even read legacy media anymore, are simpatico with the Democrats. Editors and reporters feel the same way, so they become exactly what Elon Musk says they are.
Mainstream media has now reached the point that aviators refer to as being “out of altitude, out of airspeed, and out of ideas.” When you reach the point where only about one-in-ten Americans trust you, you have a problem. You can’t change your way of coverage to create a larger audience because your core customers will revolt and leave long before you see market growth. Your only option is to double down on extremism to keep the audience you do have.
There is good news here. CNN is within a year or so of folding. Even Jeff Bezos won’t tolerate the sinkhole-for-cash that is The Washington Post. If The New York Times newsroom walks out on strike, the number of workers returning will be a fraction of today’s workforce. Slowly but surely, market forces are crushing the gatekeepers. I don’t know what will emerge from the smoking wreckage, but it can’t possibly be as vile and corrupt as what exists today.
