My Favorite Christmas Gaming Gifts - Mario Kart Nintendo DS

Christmas time is here and I am sharing some of my favorite video game gifts that I've gotten, not just at Christmas, but at any time. Make sure you let me know, down in the comments, what some of your favorite video game gifts you've gotten over the years are.

One of the challenges of being into video games is often people don't know what you have, don't have, and what's your collecting for. Our local store, Live Action Games, will often set things aside for my wife if she asks them what I've been looking at lately in the store. One such occasion was a Nintendo DS, but it wasn't any ordinary system, it was the red Mario Kart version.

The system itself is backward compatible with Game Boy Advance games, but also played the newest version of Nintendo DS titles. This version was based on the original model of the DS, the chunky one. It also included a Mario Kart wrist strap to make sure that it did not fall or come loose from your hand while playing.

This is by far one of my favorite gifts my wife has ever gotten me, even though I don't play in handheld a whole lot. I love the looks and styling of the system, I had an original launch version of the DS in silver, so this brings me back to that time. I don't own a copy of Mario Kart DS, but now that I think about it, I think I'm going to have to pick one up. I have 3D printed a red Nintendo DS display stand, and this piece is lovingly in the background in every one of my videos.
