This is the moment an amazed diver films a huge shark swimming past as it casually chews on a massive fish still alive in its mouth.

The video was shot at Tiger Harbour by professional diver Ahmed Inah, 35, and his team from the Pelagic Divers Fuvahmulah located on Fuvahmulah Island in the Maldives.

The video shows the head of the fish looking out from the mouth of the huge shark as it swims slowly towards the divers. As it approaches, it starts to bite down on the fish, causing a spray of blood into the water.

The area is particularly popular with divers hoping to get up close to tiger shocks with guaranteed sightings because of the unique topography. It ensures distinctive ocean current patterns around the island that make it a great base location for tiger sharks.

Although they are considered the second most dangerous shark after the great white, there's never been a record of any shark attack in the Maldives.

In contrast, Ahmed said that Tiger sharks are naturally curious and are drawn to divers, which makes it easier for them to be viewed.

The PADI registered dive instructor said it had always been his dream to have a dive centre on his home island which he finally achieved in February 2020 by working together with friends and ex-colleagues.

He said: "They are all as passionate and crazy about diving as I am when we started Pelagic Divers Fuvahmulah.

"I must admit it wasn’t the best time to start a business with the Covid-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, we were confident in the fact we wanted to operate our diving in Maldives, and so we just did it."
