Making a DIY drink tote or drink carrier is a pretty easy woodworking project, but there are some things to watch out for in the design. First of all you want to make sure that the handle will clear the highest bottle and still leave room for a hand to clear the bottles, otherwise they can get scraped on the edges of the metal bottle caps. You will also want to make sure when you are measuring for sizes that the inside will have enough room for the bottles. In smaller projects like this it is easy to measure the bottles then omit the thickness of the wood an make the carrier a wee bit too small. One other consideration is, if you will be installing a wall mount bottle opener, it's best to keep it up a high on the tote as you can, otherwise it makes it awkward to open bottles if the opener is too low on the gable end.
All that said, this little drink carrier is a perfect like weekend project for many woodworkers. I could even be used as a small, inexpensive wooden feature for anyone who sells their woodcraft at garden markets, flea markets or swap meets. They are easy to put together and are real eye catchers, a perfect gift for anyone because there is such a variety of drinks you could put in them.
Have fun making this, it's a great, easy to make project for experienced and novice woodworkers alike and perfect for any man cave.
