From the mind of film auteur, Ezekiah Isaiah Thurm (popularly renowned as Rabbi Zeekee), comes a satirical view on what is perhaps, the grimmest view of Middle America, this side of the Ozark mountain range. Please correct me if I'm wrong there. Evidently, I always found myself bored and unamused by the overtly self-serious treatment Debra Granik's film adaptation of Daniel Woodrell's perennial novel "Winter's Bone" plastered upon itself against the backdrop of me. I, a mere freelance screenwriter/filmmaker that saw little to no point in utilizing such a crass procedure by which to enthrall an audience in otherwise tedium I couldn't feel inclined to decipher. Therefore, how would I, as well as a million or so other devout followers of avant-garde cinema appreciate this, what should it be called?, schmaltz? Spin a satirical cloth on it, that's what! Here it is for all you higher beings of intelligence out there: Autumn's Branch!

It follows a similar plot to Winter's Bone (a teenage girl living in the Ozarks desperately seeks out her fugitive father in hopes of his appearance in court negating their eviction following a parole offer or something? I don't know, it's complicated for no reason whatsoever!) However, this is by far anything but.

Autumn's Branch is a far funnier and more realistic depiction of Ozark culture, which since it's a satire it's sure to offend you. And I guarantee you that even though it's short, you'll find yourself smiling, gasping, groaning in disgust, sulking alongside Ree and her doublecrossing crew, celebrating when all concludes to a sight most shocking, and all that jazz! So I urge you to join me and trudge through North Carolina trees, trip a mile or two in horrid high-tops in prickles and thorns, and experience the tale of one hardboiled girl's readymade solution for her indolent
father's get-out-of-jail-free-card. Hope it delights you!!!
