Kyiv faces a cold, dark winter after Russia targeted Ukraine’s infrastructure during the last months of the autumn.

Despite periodical absence of electricity, water and heat supply, Kyiv residents try to lead regular lifestyles, going to work, visiting cafes, and even dancing in public spaces.

Kyiv's mayor told residents on Thursday to stock up on water, food and warm clothes in case of a total blackout caused by Russian air strikes, and said residents should consider staying with friends in the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital if they could.
