Uruguay players leave Doha hotel after dramatic World Cup exit

Players from Uruguay's World Cup squad began leaving the team hotel in Doha, Qatar in separate groups on Saturday after 'La Celeste' were knocked out of the tournament despite beating Ghana 2-0 on Friday.

One more goal against the 'Black Stars' would have taken Uruguay through to the knockout stage, and Diego Alonso's side felt aggrieved that referee Daniel Siebert turned down their appeals for two penalties during the match.

But South Korea finished second in the final Group H standings - above Uruguay on goals scored - so it's the 'Taegeuk Warriors' who advanced to a round of 16 meeting with tournament favourites Brazil.

It was unclear whether captain Luis Suarez, who is likely to have played in his final World Cup campaign, had left the team hotel on Saturday morning.
