'Rogue wave' strikes Antarctic cruise liner, killing one US citizen.

According to the firm, the wave hit a Viking Polaris cruise liner as it was cruising close to South America.

According to the cruise line, a "rogue wave" struck a Viking cruise ship as it was traveling close to South America's southernmost point and caused the death of an American woman and injuries to four other guests.

According to Argentine officials, the unnamed 62-year-old woman was struck by shattered glass when a wave on the Viking Polaris ship broke cabin windows late on Tuesday during a storm.

The ship sustained minimal damage and arrived the following day in Ushuaia, 1,926 miles south of Buenos Aires.

In a statement, Viking added, "It is with great sadness that we confirm a visitor passed away as a result of the incident." We sent our sincere condolences to the guest's family and informed them.
