The founders of the revolutionary “anti” social media app Totem @totemcircles2492 , Ted Wallach and Bo Lopker, explain their inclusive, innovative technology platform on episode 85 of the Far Out with Faust podcast.

Ted is a former film director who worked with Martin Scorsese before joining WeWork, then finding his passion for coaching. He’s appeared on the show in episodes 12, 20, and 59.

Bo Lopker is a former engineer with DNA testing pioneer 23andMe, and has appeared on the podcast previously on episode 35.

In this episode, they’re talking about their new venture, Totem. Described as the antidote to social media — which Ted and Bo regard as actually antithetical to society — Totem is a completely new way to communicate and truly understand people online.

At the heart of Totem is the practice of Circle: an ancient communication technique that Bo and Ted have adapted for the modern world.

Learn more about the techniques of engaging in a Circle practice, and all of the different types of communication — from conflict to corporate dynamics — that it can facilitate.

These three tackle some big topics:
What’s so wrong with technology?
What are the inherent flaws of social media?
What’s the true purpose of communication?

Hear Bo relate an amusing story about the first time Ted “forced” him to be a Circle Keeper. The three venture beyond social media and into a broader discussion about
family.

Faust reveals what he does with his kids every night, while Bo steals the show with a profound insight into the connection between truth and perfection.

These two mean business: but their model is anything but conventional. Totem is a non-profit organization, and its code is open source. Stay tuned till the end, when Ted explains why it just might change the world.
