Indigenous people invade Brasília airport in protest against the Brazilian Judiciary and Congress

A large group of indigenous people closed the Brasília airport on the afternoon of this Friday, December 2, during a protest against the attitude of the Brazilian Justice and the Federal Congress. In traditional clothes and carrying signs, they also protested against the result of the presidential elections, they elected Luís Inácio Lula da Silva.

The Indians belong to the Xavante group, from Mato Grosso, and the Caiapó, from Pará. They would be linked to the groups that also demonstrate in front of the headquarters of the armed forces, asking for federal intervention. They carry messages with sayings of “cry for help” and “against censorship”. the banners criticize the press too, saying that it “does not show the truth to the world”.

Several videos were taken in the lobby of the federal capital's airport. They show that the indigenous people not only accessed the main hall of the airport, but also invaded the departure area and tried to reach the runway. Due to the protest, the airport had to be closed.
