Canada: NDP calls for diplomatic boycott of G20 activities in India over human rights – December 1, 2022

NDP critics Heather McPherson (foreign affairs) and Blake Desjarlais (diversity and inclusion) speak with reporters on Parliament Hill to discuss their party's call for Canada to boycott G20 activities in India due to human rights concerns and the treatment of minorities. The MPs are joined by Jaspreet Bal, vice-president of the World Sikh Organization and Fatema Abdalla, advocacy officer of the National Council of Canadian Muslims. The news conference comes as India assumes presidency of the G20 for one year. The NDP is also calling on Canada to bar entry of Indian government officials have called for racist and genocidal violence against Muslims and other minorities.
