The inner ideal image dictates our lives and causes self-hate.

We develop this image in order to fill the need for love and acceptance that we didn't get from our parents or other important people in our lives.

This image often becomes an obsession, and we work very hard to become it.

However, it is an unattainable goal, and we are never satisfied We are also very critical of ourselves and often believe that we are not good enough.

This video series shares ideas from a psychoanalyst called Karen Horney. Ideas are adapted from her book "Neurosis and Human Growth". This is part 6 of this series. We are on the summary of chapter 3 of the book: The tyranny of the should. We will go through the whole book and learn about self-hate and how we can combat it.
