'I DON'T apologise!' | Luis Suarez on handball that sent Ghana out of 2010 World Cup

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has fanned the flames ahead of what is likely to be a heated clash between Ghana and Uruguay on Friday.

To many Ghanaians the quarter-final defeat to Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup is still a raw and painful memory.

Suarez’s deliberate handball on the goal-line at the end of extra time denied Ghana a certain goal and a place in history as the first African team to reach the semis.

Suarez was sent off for the handball but celebrated wildly on the sidelines when Asamoah Gyan hit the resulting penalty off the crossbar. Uruguay won the ensuing penalty shootout.

A Ghanaian journalist told Suarez at a press conference on Thursday that he was seen as "the devil himself" in Ghana and asked whether he had ever considered apologising to the Ghana national team.

The answer from Suarez was a definite 'no'.
