Final Fantasy VI (PS1) Gameplay -Final Fantasy Anthology-

The PS1 port of Final Fantasy VI suffers from optimization issues, and some inexplicable slowdown in the battles. However, as I said with the PS1 port of Chrono Trigger, this is a turn-based RPG, and while the optimization issues are a bummer, they don't really hurt the gameplay. They just make the port look bad. However, since this isn't a fast-paced shmup, or something like that, it's not like slowdown really kills the experience either. So, sloppy port on Square's part, but the game is still amazing, and still my favorite game of all time, even in this form.

Unlike Chrono Trigger, I do actually own the Snes version, released here in North America as Final Fantasy III, and outside of the optimization issues, they did add a sprint button. Other than that, some of the sound effects are a little different, but you won't notice unless you played the Snes version to death like I did.

I still like Final Fantasy Anthology. For the time, it was the only way to play Final Fantasy V in English, and it came with a music CD as well. So, bad optimization, but still two great games.

NOTE: I used the PS3 to upscale this footage
