Martin Tobin might be the supreme scholar of critical care medicine. His Textbooks are the "Bible" of the field of mechanical ventilation. Recently he wrote an article in the Blue Journal with a plea for honesty for researchers defining (again) ARDS. We spoke about the history of ARDS, how to manage patients with the syndrome and how new definitions are an irrelevant distraction from trialists to the care of patients.
