Small-area games and engaging practice structure were hot topics at the 2018 USA Hockey National Coaches Symposium in Lake Placid, New York. We caught up with Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan after his keynote presentation and the two-time Stanley Cup champion shared one of his favorite small-area games. It’s a fun, fast-paced and competitive 3-on-2 cross-ice transition contest. And like most small-area games, it incorporates a wide variety of important hockey skills.
