RUSSIAN troops fire rifles in harsh conditions as part of joint-military drills in Belarus.

The Russian Defence Ministry released footage on Tuesday (November 29) said to be of Russian troops involved in military drills in neighbouring Belarus.

According to the ministry, the soldiers are undergoing intense training to counter a "hypothetical enemy".

Belarus's defence ministry announced on October 16 that just under 9,000 Russian troops would be stationed in the country as part of a "regional grouping" of forces to protect its borders.

Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said his troops would deploy with Russian forces near the Ukrainian border, citing what he said were threats from Ukraine and the West.
