Nikon dropping out of the DSLR camera market

Nikon seems to be stopping any future development of DSLR cameras.
And are instead, focusing on developing mirrorless cameras.
Basically the difference is that mirrorless cameras don’t have the optical viewfinder.
They instead either have an electronic one or just the electronic screen that also shows off the interface of the camera.
Mirrorless cameras used to have a smaller selection of lenses in the past along with slower electronic viewfinders…
But these days they hold the advantage of being smaller & lighter than DSLRs.
And Nikon’s biggest competitor Canon has also indicated that they are winding down their DSLR development as well.
