There have been unprecedented protests in China over the country’s strict zero-Covid policy.

Hundreds of demonstrators clashed with police in Shanghai while Beijing also saw unrest.

Some openly called for the ruling Community Party to stand down.

The violence follows a deadly apartment fire in the city of Urumqi, which was blamed on lockdown.
