It’s all about activation.

Pick a challenging but sub-maximal weight and lift it as fast as you can with good form. This will activate all of those delicious fast twitch muscles and prime your body for bigger lifts. I like doing 3-5 working sets of 3 reps.

It’s not about going to failure or maxing out, this is all about speed.

Try it - it’s a great variance and for me leads to very little fatigue and soreness in the following days!
