📌 Although the act of providing a false name, as a violation of P.C. § 148.9, is an arrestable offense (People v. Christopher (2006)
137 Cal.App.4th 418, 428.), refusing to provide any identification at all, even while detained, has been held not to violate P.C. § 148(a)(1), delaying or obstructing an officer in the performance of his or her duties, at least until the suspect is arrested and the booking process is initiated. (In re Chase C. (2015) 243 Cal.App.4th 107, 117-118.)
