Built as a proof of work and a fork of bitcoin , this layer 1 technology was designed in conjunction with Odysee (a browser platform) for the decentralisation of content creation. In short, its goal was to be a less censored version of YouTube. However, these lofty goals were spotted as potentially subversive to the political status quos and were subsequently sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission for the selling of potential of LBC as securities. Since then LBRY has been fighting the SEC claiming they are in fact not securities.
