How To Not Get Angry | Heart of an athlete

I used to struggle a lot with controlling my anger. I would say things I don’t mean or act irrationally out of emotion. But as I continue to learn and mature, through listening to people more knowledgeable then me, I have found that the best practice I can start to do for myself is when I’m very upset and frustrated, I don’t say anything. And I have learned that by not responding to certain things that may anger you, you can limit problems and self destruction that you may cause on yourself. There is a quote I read before that says “you will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger” . And I say that all to say, if you may be struggling with anger, practice being quiet, and use it as a tool to simply get to where you want to be in life in the most peaceful way possible.

I created this short film to show some instances that a athlete may experience that would make them upset ,the main character progressively gets more and more angry, but stays composed and doesn’t say anything to anyone after the fact. He just goes back to the gym and continues to build on his craft. Until eventually he misses a shot that he has been practicing on between each scene and lets out a moment of frustration to himself. Then he breathes, and continues to work on the shot.

The moral of this film is, people will make you angry. Don’t express that anger to them, use it to continue to get to where you want to go, and if you need to express the anger, express it to yourself. Then keep going
