Best Fruits To Eat When Pregnant _Pregnancy Diet - Fruits
A nutritious diet plays an important role in a person’s overall health, helping the body to function effectively and reducing the risk of certain disease conditions.
A healthy diet should include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats.
Eating a healthy diet with a variety of foods is particularly important during pregnancy as it affects the growth of the fetus as well as mother’s well-being.
Fresh fruits are especially important in supplying vitamins to the mother & the growing fetus during pregnancy.
In addition to that, fruits are also a good source of fiber, and important antioxidants required by the human body.
So, in this video we are going to look at the seven best fruits to eat during pregnancy.
Citrus fruits.
Citrus fruits like lemons and oranges contain good amounts of vitamin C, which is essential for the growth of bones, tendons & ligaments, & connective tissues of the growing fetus.
In addition, vitamin C increases the iron absorption from the small intestine of the mother.
It also acts as an antioxidant to prevent cell damage.
Citrus fruits can also help with a woman's digestion and alleviate morning sickness during pregnancy.
Moreover, citrus fruits contain large amounts of water, this property makes sure that the mother stays well hydrated.
Fruits like oranges contain good amounts of folic acid too. Folic acid is an extremely important vitamin during pregnancy.
Deficiency of this vitamin during pregnancy can result in neural tube defects in the fetus.
Avocado.
Avocados have more folate than other fruits.
They’re also a great source of, vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin K, fiber, choline, magnesium, and potassium.
Additionally, avocados contain large amounts of healthy fats, that are helpful in the development of fetal nervous system.
Some studies have found that avocados help relieve nausea, possibly because of the potassium and magnesium in the fruit.
Potassium may also help relieve leg cramps, a common complication in pregnancy due to low potassium levels.
Choline is important for the development of the brain and nerve cells of the fetus.
Fortunately, avocados can be added in a variety of ways to your diet, and they are cheap, and easy to prepare.
Fresh Apples.
Apples are very high in fiber, which can help regulate a woman's digestion and prevent constipation & hemorrhoids, two common issues during pregnancy.
In addition, apples are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and pectin, which is a prebiotic that feeds the good bacteria in the gut.
Berries.
This includes strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and other types.
Berries are rich in antioxidants that can help prevent serious diseases for both mother and baby.
In addition to that, berries contain good amounts of vitamin C, folate, fiber, & carbohydrates.
Bananas.
Bananas are a wonderful source of potassium.
Potassium can help greatly with regulating the fluid and blood pressure in a woman's body and preventing leg cramps or pain during the later stages of a pregnancy.
They also contain vitamin B6, vitamin C, and fiber.
The high fiber content of bananas can help with pregnancy-related constipation, and there is some evidence to suggest that bananas help relieve nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy.
Pomegranate.
Pomegranates can provide pregnant women with plenty of vitamin K, calcium, folate, iron, protein, and fiber.
Nutrient-dense pomegranates are also a good source of energy, and their high iron content helps prevent iron-deficiency.
Vitamin K is also essential for maintaining healthy bones.
Research suggests that drinking pomegranate juice may help to decrease the risk of injury to the placenta.
Guava.
Guavas are an excellent source of vitamin C, and many other nutrients, including vitamin E, folate, polyphenols, carotenoids, and isoflavonoids.
Since guava contains a varied combination of nutrients, it is and ideal option for pregnant women. Eating guava during pregnancy can help to relax muscles, aid digestion, and reduce constipation.
