Former Grundy County pastor pleaded guilty to attempting to rape a child. William E."Tim" Smith Jr. entered his plea Friday morning and was sentenced to nine and a half years behind bars. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
Smith was pastor of Palmer Church of God. Grundy County sheriff's deputies said he tried to rape a 12-year-old girl.
