Dr. Morey leads members of the Genesee County Turtles on a trip to North Manitou Island in Lake Michigan.

On this particular Campaign we got to learn how to build a travois (historical frame structure that was used by Native Americans to drag loads over land), construct minimalist shelters, tie a harness out of our Buddy Line (TM) and attach to a Klemheist, use a map & compass to triangulate position, take a bearing, and plot a course using UTM maps.

We also went for a bunch of hikes, saw some amazing wildlife including cool fungi, found some tasty @$$ apples, and played games under the rain tarp.
