In the story about king ahab where god sends a lying spirit, God ask the angles or spirits who will entice this bad king, ahab who God had given a lot of evidence of his power like stopping it from raining, having Elijah the prophets’ water drenched alter spontaneously caught fire, this Ahab wouldn’t repent after given signs and wonders that God was real, and upset with his behavior, kept stubbornly ignoring gods warnings, that guy God let a lying spirit who volunteered to go deceive, God let that spirit go do what maybe it was going to do on its own, to that wicked person. No doubt your country has spies that go out and send out false info to governments you probably don’t like, but you don’t condemn your country for doing that. Or your law enforcement send in undercover agents to catch or stop people involved in human trafficking of children. We all probably approve of undercover agents who say some false info to get close human traffickers, to bring them down.
Still you might be uncomfortable with how close the supposed source of truth got to lies, even if it was to wicked king, and that is a wort you can’t overlook

And that god is on the side of truth, and wants us to tell the truth, and the only times god gets close to deception is when people continually refuse the truth, he lets them believe their lies, to be become by their self deception. Maybe he sends the icing to their cakes, and we might prefer that he didn’t do that, but he doesn’t in anyway start off lying to people who want to know the truth, he just nails the coffin on people who wouldn’t let go off their love of lies, rather than the truth.
