According to Cayce humanity reached a low point in the Atlantean Epoch where we began to play god and experiment with transhumanism and genetic modification. This lead to the creation of forms that had no evolutionary future in their own right, and ultimately the 'fall', or the destruction of the Atlantean civilization.
