Like Jakarta, the Nigerian coastal city of Lagos has never been immune to flooding and has responded with reclamation. As a result, the government intends to create opportunities for the private sector to organize coastal areas by designing international-standard coastal cities that include the Great Wall of Lagos (sea fortress). Not just any beach city, but Hong Kong, which has plans to build a massive island stretching more than ten kilometers. The city on an artificial island is designed to house over 250,000 people and features a street structure that combines the styles of Paris' Champs Élysées and New York's Fifth Avenue. In short, the future Lagos is a dream city with plenty of electricity and water, as well as mass transportation and waste management.
