The U.S. is providing an additional 4-point-5 billion dollars in direct budget support to Ukraine, to help in its war against Russia.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Tuesday that the funds will help economic stability and support core government services, including wages for government employees, hospital workers, and teachers.
The money will also provide aid for the elderly and the vulnerable.
Yellen added the U.S. will continue using all its tools to (quote) "weaken Putin's war machine".
The funds will begin being sent in the coming weeks.
