This one was interesting. This one is all story and we get a peak into the twins past which is amusing but the interesting part is when we find the Scholar Montichaigne.

So here we learn about aether. The soul, memory, and body. Hmmm...body, mind, and soul :) We learned in Shadowbringers that the soul and memory had to be transferred together to keep our scion friends whole.

This is the interesting part the soul is rarely subject to dramatic change. So Hermes has always been a sociapathic whack job in every life just in different degrees it seems. When he did the memory wipe he scarred his soul or something. Is that what made him worse and more cruel in his other lives? And well we (Azem) are still Azem even if we are not whole, we still have a similar personality to that of our original life. In Shadowbringers it mentions that those with the echo the memory is so deeply ingrained into the soul that while the soul does not remember it kind of does at least the emotions. Remember they describe the immense sadness deep within when seeing the meteor shower.

The 7th Umbral Calamity memory thing is interesting. I cannot remember did Louisoix erase everyone's memories on purpose?

It is interesting the Sharlayan spell is very similar to Hermes spell with the memory stuff with the whole we can get it back once we return to the aetherial sea thing but at the same time different since it seems to only limit them speaking about the duty. They know about it still and their activities are not being hindered. They are still preparing.

He says the souls are washed clean and get their memories back just like Hythlo says. But then he says something that contradicts what we have learned about souls. He says we mix with other souls and become a new soul but we know that is not the case. Why don't we tell him we know the answer to that. We learned in Shadowbringers about all that plus we know Minfilia's soul is still Minfilia's soul that Hydaelyn moved to the aetherial sea. Same with Hades. The second one he states we know is correct so why don't we say anything. Wouldn't Sharlayan love to know the truth. I guess we learn more as time goes on in this expansion as well. But I thought Shadowbringers did a decent job of explaining so of the soul stuff.
