Indonesian authorities said at least 162 people were killed and hundreds more injured in a 5.6 magnitude earthquake in West Java on Monday, November 21. Footage released by the National Disaster Management Authority shows collapsed buildings in Mangunkerta, a village in Cianjur Regency. Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency said the epicenter of the quake was southwest of Cianjur, with a depth of 10 km (about 6 miles). The agency said there was no potential for a tsunami. Ridwan Kamil, West Java’s governor, said late on Monday that 326 injuries of varying seriousness had been reported. He said over 2,000 homes were heavily damaged and 13,400 people were displaced. An official from the National Disaster Management Agency told local media at a briefing that people were still buried under rubble.
