You've heard of a small town, haven't you? But it's really hard to see anything like the Swiss town of Corippo. She is so small that she can disappear at any moment. There are practically no young people there anymore and today the city has an almost unbelievable number of inhabitants: 16 people. The mayor, Claudio Scettrini, is very scared about this situation and says he doesn't know what to do to contain this tragedy: “We only have 16 residents. And I'm the only one who works, the others are retired. I hope they live to be 90, otherwise there won't be anyone left here. It is really tragic ”, he explained when giving an interview to the BBC broadcaster. The city is listed as historical heritage and from afar gives the impression of having more residents, due to all the stone houses that you can see. However, the vast majority of them are empty and, sooner or later, the 600 years of Corippo's history can simply remain in the existing stones of the place. The big problem is that young people flock to Locarno, a town that is less than half an hour's drive from Corippo and is much busier (with schools, markets, medical centers). According to Elia Frapolli, a tourism specialist, this modality alone saves the small town from extinction: “Life in Corippo and similar villages is special. It's like being transported to another century. Time slows down, everyone knows each other and you feel the authenticity of life in a village that has existed for centuries.” Architect Fabio Giacomazzi also believes in the project and illustrates what must be done: “Let's paint, let's put in bathrooms. But the original doors will be maintained, the original wood and stone must also remain. Guest experience should be similar to life in 19th century Corippo
