Fall Mushroom Forage: Pig Skin Puffball Scleroderma citrinum (Scleroderma aurantium)

This is a very common puffball mushroom. It’s called pigskin puffball mushroom or common earthball. It’s inedible and poisonous, so don’t eat it. When it is very young, it’s very white inside but turn to dark brown or black when it’s ripe. When it is mature , there will be a pore on the top, then mature spores will pop out to the air.
