No warranty! Can it be REPAIRED? | RYOBI P320 18-Gauge Brad Nailer | 2022/20

My Ryobi Brad Nailer is broken, but first I want to apologize about the audio, my phone microphone failed, and I didn't set up the lapel microphone correctly either. Technology was against me.

I broke my RYOBI P320 18 Gauge Brad Nailer. In fact, I broke two of them. They didn't fail from over use, or anything like that. I dropped both of them and broke the small metal tip off that acts as the pressure switch to insure you don't misfire into your hand, the air or something else.

The first one was just a few months out of warranty, so I set about looking for the replacement part. on first glance, it seems that the Ryobi parts store doesn't offer the specific part that broke, but the next higher assemble, which was the cartridge. This replacement part is $80, a new nailer is $99. I opted for a new nailer.

A few months later, I dropped the second one and broke it in the exact same place. Some people would call this a design flaw, I call it being clumsy. In fact, this is the exact same design that is used by Rigid, Milwaukee, and a slew of others who make brad nailers. Just bad luck.

Well this model, also a P320 was still in the warranty window. So off to Home Depot I went, and after plopping down a $32 deposit, the repair technician called me a few days later to inform me that the specific part wasn't available, that the entire cartridge would have to be replaced, and oh, its not under warranty, it was a misuse breakage. Duh, I knew all this.

So after a little more google searching, I finally located the part that I needed, or so it seamed. it fits nearly perfect, but is just about a millimeter too narrow. So a little work with a grinder and file, I was able to get the clearances I needed and get BOTH nailers back in action for about $28

Now I have two functioning 18 gauge nailers, and didn't have to spend $160 on new cartridges, or at least $99 on ANOTHER new Brad Nailer!

Thanks for watching!
