Then we are joined by Kate Boccia who is the founder and president of the National Incarceration Association, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. She shares the heartbreaking story of her son, which prompted her to take action and bring much-needed attention to the horrors of the prison industrial complex in the United States. She reveals how they use inmates for slave labor, and how families are bullied and intimidated into silence over the treatment of their incarcerated members. We also discuss the programs her organization has developed to address these and other issues, and how people can get involved and make a difference in their own communities to affect change to help break the cycle of chronic incarceration and its ill effects upon society at large.
