The man who inspired the movie ‘The Terminal’ has died at the Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris.

The Iranian – Mehran Karimi Nasseri - better known to airport staff as Alfred Mehran or Sir Alfred, died of natural causes at terminal two.

He lived at the airport for 34 years after being refused entry into England because he had no documents.

France also denied him entry in 1988 when he decided to settle on a plastic bench at the airport's shopping mall.

Tom Hanks played ‘Sir Alfred’ in the 2004 award-winning film after the refugee's story came to the attention of Hollywood director Steven Spielberg.
