You get one to two questions in the actual PTE Summarize Spoken Text test and each recording lasts between 60 and 90 seconds. You have a time limit of 10 minutes per Summarize Spoken Text question, so you should use this time wisely so that you write the best response possible within the given time limit. If you save any time here, it won't be used for any other question in the test. As shown below, the Summarize Spoken Text task layout shows how it looks in the PTE exam, as well as directions on how to complete it. Before the lecture audio begins, you can watch a timer and find out when it's coming to an end. Then you have Writing space where you can type your answer, the summarized spoken text, and the Total Word count will show how many words you have written. Since the Summarize Spoken Text task is also a writing task, it's quite important for you to understand how you will be scored if you're going to do well on it. The timer will show you how much time is left, so you don't have to worry about counting it yourself.
