Salt Lake City's Main Street is a hub for cool local bars, music, entertainment high finance, and homelessness. It's a strange dichotomy, on one side of the street is the $2 billion "Mormon Mall" called the City Creek Center. On the other side, there are blighted and boarded-up buildings due to months of homeless encampments.

Today, many of the homeless have been moved a few blocks to the west in the Rio Grande area. But the homeless population, the drug trade, and crime have been skyrocketing in recent years.

Many vulnerable homeless fall victim to violence and crime because those who prey on the homeless receive little punishment.

Neighboring cities and states are sending their homeless to Salt Lake City and as a result of the drug epidemic and the lack of shelter space more homeless people than ever are remaining in parks and camping on the streets. We offer a complete story about this on UtahStories.com
