Self-Defense:There are a few core skills that anyone—human or cat—will need after the fall of society. Foremost among these is self-defense. An angry hiss, puffed-out fur, and sharp claws might be enough to protect your cat when they prowl the neighborhood now, but they’ll do little good keeping your kitty safe in a world run amok with rampaging gangs of criminals and radioactive dogs. Cats are likely to face a variety of threats that are larger and stronger than them, from the criminals and dogs to hostile aliens and tidal waves. To ensure that your cat is a potent threat against any enemy they might face, you should at the very least be training them on the proper handling and usage of knives, firearms, and crossbows. Training with a light sidearm is a great place to start, but too often this is all owners will bother to teach their cats. Frequently overlooked is the importance of instructing your cat about martial arts and paw-to-paw combat. You never know what situations will arise in which your cat may need to defend themselves. Guns are wonderful tools, but if your cat’s gun were to jam, or if they were to run out of ammo in a dangerous situation, the result could very well be a calamewty! Don’t simply teach your cat to use a weapon: teach your cat to bea weapon! There are a number of martial arts disciplines that are well suited to cats; consider supplementing their combat training with Catoeira, MeowThai kickboxing, or the brutal Israeli fighting technique of ClawsMaga. Not only can martial arts training save their life, but it will also teach discipline, one of the most important survival skills that any cat can possess!
