Wadis - dry seasonal riverbeds regularly used as roads or crossing points, or located along roads - are often one of the biggest hazards in more remote and rural areas during heavy rains in Saudi Arabia.
These dry channels quickly turn into raging rivers during the rains, when the rain moves rapidly over dry rocks and earth and down the surrounding steep slopes.
