The Growing Destruction of the Nuclear Family in America

Have you heard the news? The nuclear family is no longer the main building block of American society. That's right. According to Pew Research, families are less likely to consist of a married mom and dad and more likely to contain a single parent, cohabitating parents, or LGBT parents ( 1 ). And just who are these single and cohabitating parents? They're young adults age 25-34-GenXers and Millennials( 2 ). This leads us to ask: Is America becoming less conservative in favor of liberal ideologies? Are there more opportunities for women outside the home? Has school curriculum changed America's view on marriage? The answer to all three questions is a resounding yes. But how did we get here? And what does it mean for America's youth?
