Tonight... on "DEVIL MAY CRY 5: SPECIAL EDITION"! After having to start a new game from scratch because I couldn't import my save file from the original DMC5 on PS4 to Special Edition on PS5 and play through the campaign with Dante, Nero, and V- who are all lame because they aren't VERGIL- to unlock Bloody Palace (hardcore endless survival mode killing demons and being cool nonstop until you die or make it all the way to the Level 101 where you have to fight the hardest boss in the game- who is obviously VERGIL- on the hardest difficulty- which is pretty difficult, NGL. Over a year or so of playing fairly regularly, I only made it the final level *once*- and it took like 2.5 hours of nonstop play) and then after finishing the Story Mode and unlocking Bloody Palace, I had to play as Dante (who, besides not being VERGIL, is weird as all hell to play and you need 13 hands with 72 fingers to press all the buttons to make him to stuff with his billion different combinations of swords, guns, styles, Devil Trigger, Super Duper Sin Devil Trigger, one weapon that's actually 2 weapons, and another weapon that's actually 3 weapons... and...

Point being- DANTE is a pain and I don't like him and he's not VERGIL and he's weird and I don't like him- but I refuse to play as some kind of scuffed VERGIL without his full moveset unlocked- but it costs over 1,000,000 Red Orbs to unlock the full power of VERGIL, which is kind of alot, so I had to suffer through grinding Bloody Palace trying to kill demons and be cool as Dante (who is still not VERGIL and I still don't like him) and it was a bit of a nuisance.

But now, at long last, the time has come...

Even before I got Special Edition, I hadn't played DMC5 for a few months due to reasons, and recently I've been having to play as DANTE, who, as mentioned, is weird and plays totally differently from VERGIL, and- most notably- I'm using the PS5 Controller and still getting used to the subtly different shape and button placement from the PS4 Controller I've used for the past 6 years or so. It might not sound like it would make that much of a difference, but it really does. Especially on DMC5 which has very convoluted and occasionally clunky controls while also requiring extreme precision and speed. In such cases, the X button being just a bit further left requiring you to tilt your thumb and press it at a *slight* angle so you can jump and then immediately press Triangle to start charging Judgement Cut so it'll be ready before you lose i-Frames *without* accidentally pressing Circle because then you'll Air Trick which will cancel Judgement Cut and leave you open to a big ugly demon pimp slapping you out of the sky to your death at Level 99 of Bloody Palace after 2 hours of flawless gameplay and I about threw my damn PS4 out the window... yeah... that X button being just a *bit* off can lead to some very unfortunate mistakes...

Also, the L2/R2 buttons on the PS5 Controller are really close to the L1/R1 buttons and very sensitive, so it's easy to accidentally bump them and spontaneously change weapons in the middle of a combo and... it's a whole thing, ok? Trust me... Killing Demons and Being Cool is a very precise art...

Due to the above factors, I need some practice to get back in the groove before I'm ready to make my triumphant and epic return to the Bloody Palace- even if I tried, I'd probably die about 15 minutes into the run at the first boss and have to start over, and just replaying the same 10 starter levels over and over again would be boring and lame.

But there are other challenges to be conquered before taking on Bloody Palace...

Now, I'm a little MOTIVATED...

Let's do this.
