A bit of a treat this morning. A Pileated Woodpecker is spotted in the tree by the marsh. The Pileated Woodpecker is the largest Woodpecker in North America. With a very distinct call and a beautiful red-crowned head, one can barely differentiate between the male and the female. The main noticeable difference is that the male has a red streak down the side of the face resembling a red mustache and unless you can get close enough, most of the time you won't be able to see the difference between the two.
