Microchip Giant TSMC’s $100 Billion Plan To Fix The Chip Shortage (#TSMC)

Since the beginning of the epidemic last year, chips have been scarce but widely available everywhere. As a result, buying anything—from PS5s to cars—has been difficult. Over 90% of the most technologically advanced chips, the tiniest, fastest processors used in today's iPhones, quantum computers, and automotive artificial intelligence, are produced by only one company, which also makes 24% of the world's chips.

Now, a specific company typically handles each vital step of chip production. Others, like ARM and MIPS, focus on intellectual property (IP) and architecture, providing the fundamental building blocks to create CPUs. Then there is electronic design automation, sometimes known as EDA, where companies like Cadence and Synopsys provide software for designing semiconductors.

Also, every iPhone currently on the market contains a TSMC chip. As a result, Apple gets all the accolades whenever a new phone is announced. Why didn't TSMC open the doors to American media earlier? Does IP factor into secrecy? And if you might have more questions in mind, let's get all of your questions answered in this video.
