Our visit to a local Mayan Family #shorts

Our favorite part about our time in the Maya House was getting to sit down with a local family and make things from scratch. They welcomed us into their home and kitchen, showing us how to make traditional dishes. We also talked about why people in Mexico sleep in hammocks. To this day, there are hammock hooks in most modern houses. This is because it gets so hot here that sleeping in a hammock can be a refreshing way to stay cool. Plus, mosquitoes are less likely to bite you when you're swinging in a hammock. Through these interactions, we were able to learn about Mayan culture and day-to-day life. It was a truly authentic experience that we’ll never forget.
