Is Amway or Confederated Products good way to generate passive income? I think of getting business.
Good question.
Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel made a pact in high school to become business entrepreneurs together. They started a flying school and opened a drive-in restaurant. Eventually, from the basements of their homes, they founded Amway in 1959, building their success on the desire to make other people successful.
Confederated Products is a company which specializes in the use of multi-level marketing models to sell a variety of its products, primarily in the health, beauty, and home care markets.
Both of these companies give someone the opportunity to practice their sales skills. They can be good for someone that does not know how to sell and wants to practice selling.
However, you asked the question if they are a good way to generate passive income and the answer is no. Now, I understand and know that in their business model if you recruit a few people to sell under you and then those people become great at recruiting more people that sell, you can get paid without working on the sales.
However, if you work as a carpenter and then save your money you also can purchase a bond or dividend paying stock or limited partnership interest and obtain passive income.
My point is that if you are working to start something that is not passive income even if you later obtain passive income. It takes a lot of work to be successful with Amway or Confederated Products.
Another option that might be easier than Amway or Confederated Products to obtain passive income is to purchase bonds or limited partnership interests in a multifamily community.
If your goal is to overcome the fear of getting rejected in a sales presentation then Amway or Confederated Products will give you an opportunity to do this. The same opportunity would happen if you sold vacuums door to door with Kirby.
If your goal is passive income the best way is to look at the bonds of companies that are not publicly traded (as they often pay higher returns) or to look at investing as a limited partner in a multifamily apartment community.
