While it’s only been a little over a week since the 2022 midterm elections – for which we’re still waiting to hear official final results – the race for the White House in 2024 has officially begun, courtesy of former President Donald Trump.
Last night, as expected, President Trump confirmed to the world that he'll once again make a bid for the White House, officially announcing his candidacy for President in 2024.
Trump addressed the media and gathered supporters from his Mar-a-Lago, Florida home announcing his intentions prefaced by a familiar rallying cry:
"In order to make America great and glorious again, I am announcing tonight my candidacy for President of the United States."
During his speech, President Trump was more reserved than he has been in the past. In fact, the mainstream media – which has never shied away from eviscerating him in its coverage – seemed stymied by his restraint. President Trump promised to be a unifier, saying he loved both sides – referring to conservatives and liberals, supporters and non, etc. – and called himself the only force capable of battling the corruption in Washington.
The former President also explained he was running because he believes his former opponent President Joe Biden has essentially driven our country into a ditch:
"I am running because I believe the world has not yet seen the true glory of what this nation can be. We have not reached that pinnacle, believe it or not. "In fact, we can go very far. We're going to have to go far. First, we have to get out of this ditch. And once we're out, you'll see things that nobody imagined for any country. It's called the United States of America. And it's an incredible place."
Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes further in-depth discussion of President Trump’s press conference and the implications that his running will have for other Republican hopefuls, as well as on the race for the Republican nomination, which it’s important to remember is still a long way away.
